Uterine Fibroids

Uterine Fibroids is a benign tumor that appears in the muscular layer of the uterus - myometrium. It is one of the most common diseases in women, reaching a frequency of 12 - 25% of all gynecological diseases. The highest incidence of uterine myoma occurs in the late reproductive period and before menopause. The myoma node is a tangle of chaotically intertwined, smooth-muscle fibers of rounded shape. Most nodes have a diameter of a few millimeters to several centimeters, but sometimes they can reach large sizes and weights of several kilograms.
The causes of the appearance of myoma are not fully understood. Although the obvious role of hormonal factors in the development of myoma was described as early as the 1980s, the question of the primary or secondary nature of myoma in relation to hormonal changes remains unclear. An important role is played by such risk factors as the later onset of menstruation, profuse menstruation, medaborts, inflammatory diseases of female genital organs. Another significant risk factor is considered excessive body weight in combination with inactivity and stress.
